Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:
Platinum Broadcasting, Junction City-Manhattan, provides college students the opportunity for an internship at our three radio stations in Junction City (KJCK AM-FM, KQLA-FM) The student will be assigned an internship in one of two areas of our broadcast facility:
Programming/promotions
Advertising sales/promotions.
Programming/promotions - The student will receive experience and training in radio formats, production techniques, control room operations, music scheduling and assisting with radio station promotions. Supervision and evaluation will be the responsibility of one of the station program directors.
Advertising sales/promotions - The student will receive experience and training in radio station advertising sales and marketing techniques. The student will have the opportunity to accompany advertising sales representatives on client calls, assist the sales department with organizing and creating sales promotions, and observe sales and promotion meetings.
A specific project for either area is normally assigned to the intern. Evaluations will be tailored according to the needs of the college.
Requirements:
The student should have some coursework in mass media, particularly broadcasting, and/or coursework in advertising and marketing. Platinum Broadcasting is willing to cooperate with the school in helping the student fulfill the required hours and assignments expected by the student’s academic supervisor.
The student will be complete an internship application to be reviewed by the station internship coordinator.
The student will complete an interview with the station internship coordinator and department head from the area of interest.
Platinum Broadcasting will accept interns for a particular semester on a first-come, first-served basis.
Platinum Broadcasting promotes the internship program through the internship coordinators at the College of Journalism and Mass Community and the Business College at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, and Cloud County Community College Geary County Campus, Junction City, Kansas

Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:
This Job Fair offered exposure to Kansas State University students on the employment opportunities offered by Platinum Broadcasting’s three radio stations (KJCK FM and AM and KQLA FM). Platinum Broadcasting had a table at the Job fair where information sheets on our radio stations were distributed and contact information and job applications were made available.
Job Shadow Program - KJCK AM, FM and KQLA FM (On-going)
Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:
Platinum Broadcasting provides various high schools in the region the opportunities for individual or small student groups to participate in job shadowing activities at the three Platinum stations. Students are provided an overview of radio station operations and then may choose an area(s) for job shadowing for a half-day period. Areas of emphasis include news operations, broadcast air shifts and engineering.
